Limerick East): The indicative drug target saving scheme, agreed with the Irish Medical Organisation, has been in operation since 1993. The purpose of this scheme is to encourage rational, safe and costeffective prescribing while at the same time providing resources for the development or improved facilities and services for patients within general practice. The level of resources made available under the scheme in the period 1993 to end 1995 is as follows:
