Written Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

John O'Leary

Question:

186 Mr. O'Leary asked the Minister for the Environment if he will issue approval to Kerry County Council to commence work in the proposed new reservoir in Gullane, near Gneeveguilla Post Office, Rathmore, County Kerry; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [24768/96]

John O'Leary

Question:

201 Mr. O'Leary asked the Minister for the Environment the current position regarding the proposed public water supply scheme to service Scrahanaveale and Gneeveguilla Post Office, Rathmore, County Kerry. [24625/96]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 186 and 201 together.

Contract documents for the Firies/Scartaglen regional water supply scheme — southern section — which will serve the Scrahanaveale and Gneeveguilla areas and which includes the provision of a reservoir at Gullane, have been submitted to my Department. Given the high level of commitments under the water and sewerage programme, I cannot say when it may be possible to advance the scheme.
