193 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for the Environment the total amount of national lottery moneys received to date by his Department; if he will give details of the allocation of such moneys to projects; if there are any commitments in regard to future disbursement of such funds; and if he will make a statement on the matter. A total of £51.956 million from the national lottery surplus has been allocated to my Department since March 1987 in respect of the following schemes: (1) amenities/recreational facilities grants scheme — from 1987 to 1993 — (2) local authority library service — since 1998 — (3) Dublin millennium celebrations — 1988 only — (4) provision and renovation of swimming pools — since 1991 — and (5) provision of communal facilities in voluntary housing projects — since 1991. Details of grant payments under the above schemes are listed in the Appropriation Accounts for the years 1987 to 1995. Payments under schemes (4) and (5) in 1991, which are not available in the Appropriation Account for that year, and payments under schemes (2), (4) and (5) in 1996, are set out in the following tables. Provision has been made in my Department's Estimates for 1997 for expenditure from the national lottery surplus on three schemes — £2.68 million for public libraries, £3.5 million for the provision and renovation of swimming pools and £1.033 million for communal facilities in voluntary housing projects.
