Dermot Ahern

Question:

220 Mr. D. Ahern asked the Minister for Education if she will progress to tender the application for an extension by De La Salle College, Dundalk, County Louth; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [24325/96]

My Department has approved in principle the provision of additional accommodation at De La Salle College, Dundalk, County Louth. Stage V submission — bill of quantities is currently being examined by officials from my Department. This extension project De La Salle College is one of a number of projects being considered for inclusion in the 1997 capital programme.

Máire Geoghegan-Quinn

Question:

221 Mrs. Geoghegan-Quinn asked the Minister for Education the current position regarding improvement works at a school (details supplied) in County Galway. [24330/96]

The current position on the project is that all the planning work has been completed and the contract documentation is ready. A decision on the timing of the tender process must be taken in the light of existing contractural commitments for 1997 and the funds which will be available in 1997. At this stage, I am not in a position to give approval for the tender process.

Michael Ring

Question:

222 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Education when the planning process for a school (details supplied) in County Mayo will be completed; and when the construction stage will commence. [24360/96]

An extension is currently being planned for this school. The bill of quantities for the project has been submitted to the Department and is currently being examined by the Department's technical staff. When the bill of quantities is approved, the next step is the invitation of tenders. The question of allowing the project to proceed to construction will be considered in the context of the capital allocation for post-primary building purposes in 1997.

Michael Ring

The school referred to by the Deputy will be considered for inclusion in the next list of major projects for planning.
