Adjournment Debate Matters.

I advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 21 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Ned O'Keeffe — the delay in having a new Garda station built in Doneraile, County Cork in view of the conditions in which the gardaí are working at present, particularly without heating or light. (2) Deputy Cullen — the current status of the proposed deal between the ESB and British Telecom regarding the use of the ESB mast network. (3) Deputy Callely — the urgent need to honour the commitment in section 104 of the programme, A Government of Renewal, regarding health services, in view of the crisis in services for people with disabilities and the resources, if any, which will be made available to improve such services in 1997; (4) Deputy Lawlor — the crisis in the maintenance of local authority housing in Dublin in advance of the handover of housing stock to the Dublin county councils which is scheduled for January 1997; (5) Deputy O'Dea — the urgent need for the Government to take action in relation to the upsurge in contract killings; (6) Deputy Molloy — the reason urban national schools included in the breaking the cycle scheme are to have a pupil-teacher ratio of 1-15 whereas rural national schools participating in this scheme are excluded from this provision; (7) Deputy Joe Walsh — the provision of an adequate extension to Clonakilty Boys' national school, County Cork; (8) Deputy Martin — the need to provide funding for the urgently required extension to Our Lady of Lourdes national school, Ballinlough, Cork, in view of the current dilapidated conditions and concern for the health and safety of the children; (9) Deputy O'Rourke — the non-payment of £1.5 million which was promised to the Packard workers and the steps taken to ensure that this commitment is honoured; (10) Deputy Eric Byrne — the urgent need to preserve the community rating as an essential feature of the private insurance scheme; (11) Deputies Batt O'Keeffe, Michael Ahern and Quill — the readaptation payments to ex-Irish Steel workers; (12) an Teachta Ó Cuív — an gá atá ann go leagfar píopa deich n-orlach ón Spidéal go Ros a Mhíl, le chinntiú go mbeidh solathar ceart uisce sa gceantar seo; and (13) Deputy Gallagher (Laoighis-Offaly)— the urgent need to provide a new Garda station for Tullamore, County Offaly, in view of the risk to the health and safety of the Garda Síochána and the public arising from the condition of the existing station.

The matters raised by Deputies Molloy, Ned O'Keeffe, O'Dea and O'Rourke have been selected for discussion.
