Question:255 Mr. Jacob asked the Minister for Education whether she has satisfied herself that adequate assistance is available to the deaf and dumb parents of two children attending a school (details supplied) in County Wicklow to enable these parents to communicate with teachers at the school and to ensure that they may be adequately informed of progress or any problems which their children may encounter; whether it is her Department's policy to provide financial assistance for the provision of sign language interpreters in such cases; the number of other cases in the country where both parents of hearing children at ordinary national schools are deaf and dumb; whether she has previously received requests for such assistance; whether consideration will be given in future to providing such assistance; and if she will make a statement on the matter.
