Vol. 473 No. 1

Written Answers. - Vocational Training Opportunities Scheme.

Seán Power

Question:

261 Mr. Power asked the Minister for Education her views on whether the vocational training opportunities scheme has been a success; and the long-term plans, if any, she has for the scheme. [24632/96]

The vocational training opportunities scheme is considered to be a very successful scheme. A recent consultancy evaluation of the scheme viewed it in a very positive light. Progression statistics for the students who completed the programme in 1995 showed that approximately 76 per cent went on to either employment or further education and training. The scheme is being kept under ongoing review.
