Written Answers. - Receipt of Letter.

John O'Donoghue

Question:

276 Mr. O'Donoghue asked the Minister for Justice the basis on which she is in a position to assert in her reply to Parliamentary Question No. 236 of 26 November 1996, that the letter dated 1 November 1996, from the Attorney General arrived in her Department on 5 November 1996; the person in her Department who received this letter and the time of receipt; and the person in her office to whom it was passed on. [24596/96]

I have already given details of the receipt in my office on 5 November of the Attorney General's letter dated 1 November 1996 on a number of occasions to the House and to the Deputy. The letter was opened by my personal assistant upon receipt on 5 November around lunchtime and I read the letter on the afternoon of 5 November on my way to a meeting in Dublin Castle as I had collected a number of items of work including this letter from my office in the early afternoon an route to Dublin Castle.
