Vol. 473 No. 1

Written Answers. - Eligibility for Christmas Bonus.

Micheál Martin

Question:

283 Mr. Martin asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will award a Christmas bonus, free fuel and butter vouchers to a person (details supplied) in County Cork. [24337/96]

The person concerned completed a community employment scheme placement in October 1996. While on that scheme he availed of an option to pay full-rate social insurance contributions which made him eligible for unemployment benefit on his return to the live register. Persons in receipt of unemployment benefit are not eligible for Christmas bonus, free fuel or butter vouchers. However, the person concerned will be eligible for smokless fuel allowance on completion of 78 days entitlement to unemployment benefit.
