Vol. 473 No. 1

Written Answers. - Community Support Scheme.

Joe Walsh

Question:

292 Mr. J. Walsh asked the Minister for Social Welfare the number of successful applications by region under the community support scheme for the elderly; and the plans, if any, he has to extend the scheme. [24694/96]

The information sought by the Deputy in relation to the number of successful applications by region under the scheme of community support for elderly people is set out in the following table. Some grant applications are still being finalised, so the details for grants approved are not end of year figures.

As indicated previously the scheme will be reviewed by the national and regional advisory committees to assess its effectiveness in meeting its objectiveness at the end of the year. A decision on the future of the scheme, which was introduced on a once-off basis, will be made following the review.
