Vol. 473 No. 1

Written Answers. - Tax Incentives.

Seamus Brennan

Question:

357 Mr. S. Brennan asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications his views on tax incentives for investors in renewable energy; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [24585/96]

Renewable energy is currently eligible under the business expansion scheme. In line with the commitment made when launching my renewable energy strategy document —Renewable Energy — A Strategy for the Future, and in the context of the “greening” of the 1997 budget, my Department is actively pursuing further fiscal incentives to make investment in renewable energy more attractive.
