Vol. 473 No. 2

Written Answers. - School Refurbishment.

John O'Donoghue

Question:

83 Mr. O'Donoghue asked the Minister for Education whether she will make funds available to refurbish Aughcashla national school, Castlegregory, County Kerry; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [24878/96]

The present position on the project for Aughcashla national school is that all planning work has been completed and my Department's architects are currently preparing the contract documents for the project.

A decision on the timing of the tender process will be taken in the light of existing contractual commitments for 1997, and funds which will be available in 1997. Both of these matters are under consideration at present and I expect that the process will be completed shortly.

John O'Donoghue

Question:

84 Mr. O'Donoghue asked the Minister for Education the number and names of national schools in the constituency of Kerry South which were replaced and/or refurbished during each of the years from 1987 to 1996; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [24886/96]

The information requested by the Deputy is not readily available in my Department and I cannot justify assigning scarce staff resources to its compilation.

If the Deputy has a query about a particular project, I will be happy to provide as much information as I can.
