70 Mr. B. Smith asked the Minister for the Environment the stage of a project (details supplied) in County Cavan; when tenders will be invited in respect of this project; whether construction work will commence in 1997; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [24889/96]

Contract documents submitted by Cavan County Council for this project are with my Department. In the light of the funds available for the fire services capital programme and the current level of demand, it is not possible to say when approval can be given to proceed to tender stage.
