154 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Justice the number of Bills published by her Department in 1996; the comparative figure in this regard for 1993; and the Bills which will be published in the first three months of 1997. [24998/96]
The number of Bills published by my Department in 1996 was eight. In 1993 four Bills were published. While it is difficult to be precise about the timescale for the publication of Bills, I expect to be in a position to publish a Non-Fatal Offences against the Person Bill, a Licensing (Drugs) Bill and legislation in relation to bail in the first three months or so of 1997. It may also prove possible to introduce Bills relating to Europol and the United Nations Convention against Torture during the period in question or not long afterwards.
