Question:

213 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Enterprise and Employment the number of Bills published by his Department in 1996; the comparative figure in this regard for 1993; and the Bills which will be published in the first three months of 1997. [24992/96]

The following Bills were published by my Department in 1996: Irish Takeover Panel Bill, 1996; The Metrology Bill, 1996; Irish Steel Bill, 1996; Transnational Information and Consultation of Employees Bill, 1996; Protection of Young Persons (Employment) Act, 1996; Organisation of Working Time Bill, 1996; and National Standards Authority of Ireland Bill, 1996.

In addition the Government approved the Credit Union Bill at its meeting on 18 December 1996 and it is intended to publish it shortly.

Negotiations are in progress with the Parliamentary Draftsman's office on the Chemical Weapons Bill which my Department hopes to publish in January 1997. We do not expect any further publications within the first three months of 1997. For the 1993 period there were two Bills published; the Nítrogen Éireann Teoranta Bill, 1993 and the Industrial Developments Bill, 1993.
