Question:212 Mr. Davern asked the Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht the total cost to his Department of the Presidency of the EU; and if he will give details of such costs. [1237/97]

The gross cost incurred to date by my Department in respect of the Irish Presidency is of the order of £175,000. The total gross cost will not be established until demands for payment have been presented in respect of other items of expenditure. The net cost to my Department, however, will not be established until refunds have been received in full from the EU and other sources.
