Vol. 473 No. 4

Written Answers. - School Building Projects.

Brendan Kenneally

Question:

332 Mr. Kenneally asked the Minister for Education the current position regarding the proposed extension to St. Declan's community college, Kilmacthomas, County Waterford; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [1130/97]

The County Waterford vocational education committee has been asked to submit a developed sketch scheme in respect of this project.

When this has been received, the format of the project can be finalised and the vocational education committee will be authorised to proceed with the remaining stages of architectural planning.

Building work cannot begin until architectural planning has been satisfactorily completed.

Liam Fitzgerald

Question:

333 Mr. L. Fitzgerald asked the Minister for Education the further moneys, if any, which will be provided for the erection of a physical education hall at Pobalscoil Neasain, Baldoyle, Dublin 13; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [1144/97]

It is the policy of my Department to provide physical education facilities on a phased basis at all second-level schools where such facilities are not already available.

Provision was made for the architectural planning of PE halls at 12 schools in the 1996 capital programme. These include Pobalscoil Neasain, Baldoyle.

The progress of provision of these PE halls is being considered in the context of the 1997 capital allocation.
