Question:348 Ms Keogh asked the Minister for Education whether she will give a commitment to commence work on the erection of a sports hall and repairs to an existing building at Youghal CBS in 1997. [1229/97]
Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.
Reports concerning the condition of the existing building at Christian Brothers secondary school, Youghal, are currently being examined by my Department's technical staff. A response will be conveyed to the school authorities when this examination has been completed. My Department has agreed in principle to the extension at the school and a schedule of accommodation has been agreed with the school authorities. This schedule includes the provision of a sports hall as a shared facility between the vocational school and CBS in Youghal. However, it is not possible to initiate the architectural planning of the proposed extension until the school confirm acceptance of the cost limits set by the Department. It is not possible at this stage, to indicate when construction will commence on this project.
