At present I am not in a position to indicate which primary school building projects will proceed in 1997. I am currently considering a number of urgent projects and when I have taken a decision in the matter it will be conveyed to the school managements concerned.

Smith asked the Minister for Education if her attention has been drawn to the need to provide additional permanent accommodation at Ballinamoney national school, County Cavan; if so, the stage of planning of this project; when tenders will be invited in respect of this building; when construction work will commence; and if she will make a statement on the matter. I am aware of the need for additional permanent accommodation at Ballinamoney national school, County Cavan. I included the project in the 1995 capital programme to facilitate its progress through to planning stages.
The project is currently at detailed design stage. When all the design work has been completed, a decision on the timing of the tender and contract processes will be taken in the light of available funding. At present, I am not in a position to state when tenders will be invited and construction will commence.
