Vol. 473 No. 4

Written Answers. - School Placement.

Tony Gregory

Question:

374 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Education if she will assist in obtaining a place in a special school for a person (details supplied) in Dublin 7 who has been out of school for four months. [1589/97]

I am aware of the case referred to by the Deputy. While the selection and enrolment of pupils in second level schools is the responsibility of individual school authorities, my Department gives assistance in securing placement in individual cases through a process of consultation with school management. These efforts, which by their nature can take some time, are ongoing in this case and every effort is being made to find an appropriate placement.
