Vol. 473 No. 4

Written Answers. - Disadvantaged Status.

Cecilia Keaveney

Question:

393 Cecilia Keaveney asked the Minister for Education if she will review of the current situation at St. Patrick's girls national school, Carndonagh, County Donegal in relation to granting it disadvantaged status; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [1692/97]

I am pleased to inform the Deputy that the school in question was granted disadvantaged status, for funding purposes only, in December 1996. The decision to grant disadvantaged status to the school was taken in recognition of the fact that this school is dealing with the same general population as other schools in the area which had previously been granted disadvantaged status.
