Vol. 473 No. 4

Written Answers. - CCTV Systems.

Mary Harney

Question:

419 Miss Harney asked the Minister for Justice whether plans are completed for the extension of CCTV systems for 1997; if so, if Clondalkin village, Dublin 22, is included on this list; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [1172/97]

CCTV has already been installed in Temple Bar while a contract was recently placed for a major system for the O'Connell Street area of Dublin. The other systems approved, which are at the planning stage, are those for Finglas and Tralee. The extension of these schemes to other areas is currently being considered within the context of a review by the Garda authorities and my Department. This review will have regard to priorities from a policing perspective and availability of resources etc. Clondalkin Village is one of the areas being considered within that review.
