Vol. 473 No. 4

Written Answers. - Garda Communications.

Joe Walsh

Question:

427 Mr. J. Walsh asked the Minister for Justice the plans, if any, she has to have necessary repair works made to the Green Man attached to Skibbereen Garda station to ensure that a person (details supplied) in County Cork will no longer be able to hear all messages going through or have recordings of messages coming up on his television screen. [1260/97]

I am informed by the Garda authorities that where householders experience television reception difficulties, the procedure is that they contact RTE reception investigation who then investigate the complaint. Where the source of the problem is from a Garda signal, the Garda Telecommunications Section are contacted and they attempt to resolve the problem with RTE. The Garda Síochána inform me that as far as they are aware, RTE have received no complaints from the person named by the Deputy since late 1991 when his original problem was resolved satisfactorily.
