Vol. 473 No. 4

Written Answers. - Complaints Against Gardaí.

Tony Gregory

Question:

437 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Justice if complaints made to local public representatives in Cabra, Dublin 7, that gardaí are involved in inappropriate harassment of members of the Cabra Community Against Drugs Organisation, will be independently investigated. [1415/97]

I am informed by the Garda authorities that they are not aware of complaints made to public representatives in Cabra regarding harassment of members of the Cabra Community Against Drugs Organisation. It is, of course, open to anyone with a complaint of this kind to bring the matter to the attention of the Garda Síochána Complaints Board which was established, by statute, to provide a mechanism for the independent investigation of complaints against members of An Garda Síochána.
