Vol. 473 No. 4

Written Answers. - Court Accommodation.

Seán Ryan

Question:

440 Mr. S. Ryan asked the Minister for Justice the proposals, if any, she has to upgrade the District Court office, Swords, County Dublin, or provide an alternative adjacent to the courthouse in view of the deplorable condition for both the staff and general public. [1418/97]

Officials of my Department met with officials of Fingal County Council last April to discuss improvements to the accommodation provided by the county council for both District Court staff and District Court sittings.

As a result of these discussions, my Department is awaiting firm proposals from Fingal County Council on the matters referred to by the Deputy and I understand that the county council expect to be in a position to put a proposal to my Department in this regard shortly.
