Question:

444 Mr. Hilliard asked the Minister for Justice the way in which the figure of £9.662 million was estimated under subhead B of Vote 22 in the 1997 Estimates for the public service. [1465/97]

An amount of £9.662 has been allocated to subhead B of Vote 22 in the 1997 Estimates to cover expenditure on the following under subhead B1 (i) Courthouses — Capital Works — the sum of £7.445 million has been provided to cover the capital cost of providing or renovating courthouses in Dublin and throughout the country under subhead B1 (ii) — Courthouses — Maintenance Works — the sum of £1.672 million has been provided for substantial maintenance projects to courthouses in Dublin and throughout the country; under subhead B 2— Courthouses — Heat, Light, Fuel — the sum of £254,000 has been provided to cover the cost of heat, light and fuel for court buildings in Dublin city owned by the Office of Public Works; under subhead B 3 — Courthouses — Furniture and Fittings — the sum of £168,000 has been provided to cover the cost of providing furniture and fittings in courthouses; and under subhead B4 — Courthouses — Miscellaneous — the sum of £123,000 has been provided to cover the cost of providing security for various court buildings in Dublin city.
