Vol. 473 No. 4

Written Answers. - Spread of BSE.

Tony Gregory

Question:

542 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if he has assessed the dangers of spreading BSE by large numbers of animals, horses, hounds and stages crossing lands where cases of BSE have been confirmed; and if such lands will be placed out of bounds for hunting activities such as stag hunts and others. [1395/97]

There is no evidence that the passage of animals over land where a case of BSE has occurred involves risk of spreading the disease and consequently the question of a limitation of hunting activities does not arise.
