Vol. 473 No. 4

Written Answers. - Public Service Estimates.

Colm M. Hilliard

Question:

587 Mr. Hilliard asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications the reason for the increase in expenditure in subhead A7 of Vote 18 in the 1997 Estimates for the Public Services. [1515/97]

The reason for the increase in the allocation under subhead A7 of Vote 18 in the 1997 Estimates is due to the additional provision made for a number of exceptional consultancies which are anticipated in 1997.

This includes a provision of £2 million for a competition in relation to the building of a peat fired power station, £877,000 for the technical assistance programmes under the Economic Infrastructure Operational Programme and the Operational Programme for Transport, £400,000 for electricity industry restructuring, £200,000 in relation to a competition for the award of a DCS1800 telephone licence and £100,000 in relation to a review of operations at the Whitegate refinery.
