Question:

594 Ms Keogh asked the Minister for Defence the State and semi-State boards under the aegis of his Department; the appointments, if any, which have been made to these boards in the past year; the number of women who have been appointed; the percentage of women currently on each of these boards; and the end date of the current term of all of the boards. [1341/97]

The boards under the aegis of the Department of Defence are the Army Pensions Board, Coiste an Asgard and the Irish Red Cross Society. The appointment of Mr. Martin E. Marren as Chairman of the Army Pensions Board was the only appointment made during the past year. Details of the percentage of women serving on each board and the dates when appointments will be reviewed are as follows:

The period of office for a Director of Coiste An Asgard is normally 5 years. In the case of a number of Directors this 5 year period will expire in May of this year. The Directors are eligible for reappointment.
