Question:

284 Miss Coughlan asked the Minister for the Marine the number of public servants in areas falling within the remit of his Department who are currently on career breaks; and the number who have been waiting over two months to return to work. [2964/97]

Minister for the Marine (Mr. Barrett)

There are currently four officers on career breaks. One of these officers was due to recommence duty in December but was unable to do so because of illness. That officer will now resume duty when certified fit to do so.

There are no other officers waiting to return to work.
