42 Mrs. O'Rourke asked the Minister for Finance if there will be open examinations for recruitment to the Civil Service in 1997; if so, when the advertisements for these positions will be published; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3437/97]

It is intended that open competitions at all general service recruitment levels will be advertised in 1997 by the Civil Service Commissioners. The dates at which the advertisements will be published have yet to be determined.
