Question:

77 Mr. Molloy asked the Minister for the Environment the current position regarding the submission from Galway County Council for proposed improvements to the Inis Meán water supply scheme including the development of an additional spring source. [3903/97]

The Inis Meán group water supply scheme, including the development of an additional spring source, has been approved by my Department. The estimated cost of the works is £268,000 and grants of over £200,000 have been paid to date.

Robert Molloy

Question:

78 Mr. Molloy asked the Minister for the Environment the current position regarding the grant application for the renewal of piping for the Menlo group water supply scheme, County Galway. [3904/97]

As already announced, responsibility for the administration of the group schemes programme is being devolved to the local authorities, subject to existing commitments on foot of approvals issued by my Department. Where, schemes have not yet been approved, including the Menlo scheme, it will in future be a matter for the local authorities to decide grant applications.

Seán Power

Question:

79 Mr. Power asked the Minister for the Environment if his attention has been drawn to the difficulties being experienced by residents of the Prosperous area of County Kildare due to the lack of a proper sewerage scheme; when work on the new scheme is likely to commence; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3905/97]

I refer to the reply to Question No. 126 of 9 October 1996. My Department is in touch with Kildare County Council in relation to the terms of the appointment of the consultants referred to in the reply.
