Vol. 474 No. 8

Written Answers. - Departmental Tests.

Joe Walsh

Question:

110 Mr. J. Walsh asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the reason for the discrepancy between his reply to Parliamentary Question No. 14 of 5 February 1997 in which he stated that his Department had detected 76 positive samples of either avian or mammalian meat and bonemeal during 1996 and Parliamentary Question No. 81 of 6 February 1997 in which he stated that 58 positive samples had been found. [4043/97]

The information given in reply to Parliamentary Question No. 14 of 5 February 1997 was the number of positive samples from compound feed premises analysed since the beginning of 1996 up to a current date in 1997. That amounted to 76. The information given in response to Parliamentary Question No. 81 of 6 February 1997 was, as requested, the number of positive results from compound feed premises and stores analysed during 1996.
