Vol. 474 No. 8

Written Answers. - Local Authority Housing.

John Ellis

Question:

81 Mr. Ellis asked the Minister for the Environment when he will provide finance to Leitrim County Council for remedial works to be carried out to houses at Hyde Terrace, Mohill; Lahard, Ballinamore and Breffni Crescent, Carrick-on-Shannon. [4103/97]

Leitrim County Council's applications for funding under the remedial works scheme in respect of works to houses at Hyde Terrace, Mohill and Breffni Crescent, Carrick-on-Shannon are under examination and a decision on their eligibility will be notified to the council as soon as possible.

Regarding Lahard, Ballinamore, the council was notified last February that as only one house in the estate is in its ownership, its application was not eligible for funding under the scheme which applies only to certain groups of local authority dwellings. However, as I recently informed a deputation from the council, certain works to privately owned dwellings may qualify for funding under the improvement works in lieu scheme.
