Vol. 475 No. 1

Written Answers. - Reopening of Plant.

Willie O'Dea

Question:

263 Mr. O'Dea asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry if his attention has been drawn to the current situation at a firm in Limerick (details supplied); and if he will intervene in order to enable this plant to reopen in view of the difficulties being encountered locally. [4194/97]

I am aware of the current situation at the plant indicated by the Deputy. A boning and cutting service is currently being provided. The plant has been informed in writing of the measures needed to be taken to enable slaughtering to resume and to ensure a full veterinary supervisory and certification service by my Department.
