48 Ms Keogh asked the Minister for Health the number of general nurses who have dual qualifications; if he will give details of these qualifications; the number who receive additional remuneration for these additional qualifications; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4337/97]

These figures include nurses who are inactive and nurses working in sectors other than the public health services.
At present there are 1,448 staff nurses on the dual-qualified nursing salary scale throughout the public health services. These nurses are dual registered on two of the general, mental handicap or psychiatric divisions of the An Bord Altranais Register.
