Vol. 475 No. 2

Written Answers. - Health Board Funding.

Theresa Ahearn

Question:

61 Mrs. T. Ahearn asked the Minister for Health if an application for funding was received from a community (details supplied) in County Tipperary; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4668/97]

An application for financial assistance was received by my Department from the South-Eastern Health Board on behalf of the agency in question. The application relates to the development of residential facilities for persons with a mental handicap and their carers. Capital funding is being provided by the Department of the Environment under the voluntary housing capital assistance programme for this project. I am pleased to inform the Deputy that my Department is providing the balance of the capital funding required, that is £174,000 towards the cost of this project.
