Vol. 475 No. 2

Written Answers. - Special Areas of Conservation.

John Ellis

Question:

124 Mr. Ellis asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry the plans, if any, he has to compensate farmers who are refused sanction to plant lands in view of designation as wild life sanctuaries. [4644/97]

As the Deputy is, no doubt, aware the designation of special areas of conservation is a matter for the Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht. I have nothing to add to that Minister's reply of 18 February 1997 to a similar question from the Deputy.
