195 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Transport, Energy and Communications the gifts he accepted since his appointment to Government; if he will give details of the gifts and their monetary value; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5291/97]
The practice has been for members of the Government to accept relatively inexpensive gifts to mark occasions such as visits, offical openings, etc. and not to accept expensive gifts. It has not been the practice to describe items presented.
However I can assure the House that I have complied with the procedures set out in the Ethics in Public Office Act, 1995 in respect of all gifts received while in office.
