Vol. 475 No. 5

Written Answers - Acceptance of Gifts.

Ivor Callely

Question:

198 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Defence the gifts he accepted since his appointment to Government; if he will give details of the gifts and their monetary value; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5289/97]

As Minister for Defence, I have accepted gifts of a token nature to mark official visits abroad and other official functions. I can assure the Deputy however that the items received would not be valued in excess of the threshold set in the Ethics in Public Office Act, 1995.
