Vol. 475 No. 5

Written Answers - Schools Building Projects.

Austin Deasy

Question:

46 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for Education if she will grant approval for the proposed extension to the Presentation Convent girls primary school, Lismore, County Waterford, to allow for the accommodation of the CBS primary school in view of the fact that this is delaying the building of the approved new community school for Lismore; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [5213/97]

I am aware that the proposed extension to the Presentation Convent girls primary school in Lismore will facilitate the amalgamation with the CBS primary school and consequently make the CBS building available for the new community school. The building project at the Presentation Convent is now ready for tender.

Due to budgetary constraints it was not possible to include all deserving projects in the first group of projects which were allowed to proceed to tender recently. The project is among those which will be considered for phased release to tender later in the year.
