Vol. 475 No. 5

Written Answers - Acceptance of Gifts.

Ivor Callely

Question:

103 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Health the gifts he accepted since his appointment to Government; if he will give details of the gifts and their monetary value; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5293/97]

Limerick East): The practice has been for members of the Government to accept relatively inexpensive gifts to mark occasions such as visits, official openings, etc. and not to accept expensive gifts. In keeping with this practice any gifts which I have received since my appointment to office have been of a nominal value and therefore it would not be possible to give a precise indication of their cost.
