Vol. 475 No. 8

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

Noel Ahern

Question:

142 Mr. N. Ahern asked the Minister for Education if she will provide funds to erect a proper fence between Ballymun junior comprehensive school, Dublin 11, and the rear gardens of houses in Shanliss Gardens which are suffering from after-hours anti-social behaviour in the school grounds. [6099/97]

Officials in my Department's planning and building unit have received a request from the board of management of Ballymun comprehensive school, Dublin 11 for the provision of a fence at the school.

Unfortunately, it has not been possible to proceed with this project to date due to limited capital resources.

This application will continue to be reviewed in light of available resources and competing priorities.

Seán Doherty

Question:

143 Mr. Doherty asked the Minister for Education when she proposes to fund the extension to Lanesboro community college, County Longford; and when work will commence on this extension. [6100/97]

Due to budgetary constraints, it was not possible to include the building project at Lanesboro community college on the 1997 post-primary capital programme.

The situation will be kept under review and the project at Lanesboro will receive every consideration at the appropriate time.

It is not possible to say at this stage when construction will commence.
