Vol. 475 No. 8

Written Answers. - Garda Deployment.

John O'Donoghue

Question:

208 Mr. O'Donoghue asked the Minister for Justice the proportion of gardaí in each county and Garda administration division relative to the population of each of the areas; the number of gardaí in each of the areas; and the number of indictable crimes and undetected crimes in each of the areas. [6330/97]

The detailed deployment of Garda personnel resources is a matter for the Garda authorities. Since Garda administrative areas do not coincide with county boundaries, I propose to provide the Deputy with the information on a Garda divisional basis as is set out in the following table:

Division

No. of Gardaí (on 28/2/97)

Population (Per 1991 Census)

No. of indictable crimes (1995 Crime Report)

No. of undetected crimes (1995 Crime Report)
