Vol. 475 No. 8

Written Answers. - Departmental Reports.

Ivor Callely

Question:

228 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Tourism and Trade the number of reports or studies which have been commissioned by him since his appointment; the cost of each report in each case; whether the report has been made publicly available; and, if not, the reason therefor. [6117/97]

Bertie Ahern

Question:

229 Mr. B. Ahern asked the Minister for Tourism and Trade the number of consultants' reports commissioned by his Department since he took office; the number which have been completed; and the cost to date. [6132/97]

I refer the Deputies to my reply of 28 January last, Volume 473, No. 6, column Nos. 1800 and 1801, which provided details of the external studies commissioned since I was appointed Minister for Tourism and Trade and the costs of same. Since then, Media Services have been appointed to advise on press and media related matters.

By and large, the work of these consultants have not been made public, either because they have essentially been of an ongoing advisory nature related to the internal workings of my Department, such as the KPMG Stokes Kennedy Crowley Training Needs Analysis, Indecon's advice on progressing the Conference Centre project, media and public relations advice or A. D. Little's advice to the interdepartmental steering committee set up to oversee the implementation of the recommendations in the review of Bord Fáilte; or been prepared as the work of the External Evaluator for the operational programme for Tourism reporting to the National Monitoring Committee for the Programme.
