285 Mr. S. Kenny asked the Minister for the Marine his views on the proposal by Bray Urban District Council to dredge the Codling Bank for gravel to upgrade the beach at Bray; the research, if any, undertaken by his Department on this proposal; if his attention has been drawn to the concern expressed by the Howth Fishermen's Association regarding the extinction of shellfish on the seabed of the Codling Bank if the proposed dredging is approved. I do not yet have a view in relation to the application by Bray UDC for the foreshore licence for extraction of shingle from the Codling Bank for the purposes of beach nourishment on the north beach at Bray. I will take account of all submissions to me under the statutory consultation process relating to the application and the environmental impact statement in coming to a decision.
