Question:71 Mr. Flood asked the Minister for Equality and Law Reform the current waiting list and waiting time for service at each Family Law Centre throughout the country; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7050/97]
Written Answers. - Free Legal Aid Centres.
Waiting lists and waiting times at each of the 30 full-time law centres as at 28 February 1997, for persons seeking the services of the Legal Aid Board, are set out in the following tabular statement. In six centres the waiting time was one month or less, in eight centres the time was between one and two months, in seven centres the time was between two and four months, in four centres the time was between four and six months, in two centres the time was between six and eight months, in two centres the time was between eight and ten months, and in one of the new centres the time was in excess of ten months.
Waiting times are continually reviewed by the board, and where times, for whatever reason, become excessive the position is examined by the board with a view to taking remedial action.
