Vol. 476 No. 4

Written Answers. - Divesting of Land.

Chris Flood

Question:

100 Mr. Flood asked the Minister for Education the reason after nearly two years she has not resolved the divesting of approximately one quarter of an acre of land owned by the St. Lawrence O'Toole Diocesan Trust, Kingswood Heights, Tallaght, Dublin 24, to Kingswood Community and Leisure Centre Limited to enable a community centre to be built to meet the needs of the local community; if her attention has been drawn to the fact that the land in question is part of a primary school site and that the Office of Public Works has given a positive response to divesting the land in question; if she will have arrangements made to expedite this matter; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [7320/97]

The principal reason for the delay in divesting the portion of the school site to which the Deputy refers is that the exact area required has never been clearly identified to my Department.

An Office of Public Works architect met a representative of the Kingswood Community and Leisure Centre Limited earlier this week to discuss the matter. I understand it has been agreed that the architect representing the community and leisure centre will prepare a map indicating clearly the portion of land to be divested and forward this map to my Department.
As soon as this map is received in my Department the matter will be dealt with expeditiously.
