Vol. 476 No. 4

Written Answers. - Departmental Safety Policy.

Eric J. Byrne

Question:

112 Mr. E. Byrne asked the Minister for Social Welfare whether his Department has a safety statement and a designated safety officer. [7222/97]

My Department, as required under the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act, 1989, has devised a safety statement in consultation with staff representatives. This statement was distributed to all members of staff in my Department in 1992 and is also brought to the attention of all new staff at induction courses.

The safety statement also gives details of a senior officer who has responsibility for health and safety matters in the Department.
