145 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Defence the number in the FCA; if he will give a gender breakdown in this regard; the additional incentives, if any, he has to encourage female members; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7201/97]

The current strength of An Forsa Cosanta Áitiúil is 15,496 of which 12,488 are male, and 3,008 are female. Enlistment in An Forsa is open to male and female applicants on an equal basis.
